Wear it Purple Day- What is it All About?
Wear It Purple Day is an annual event held on the August 27th that aims to foster supportive, safe, empowering, and inclusive environments for our LGBTQI + Rainbow young people.
In a world where far too many of our youth face significant adversity, Wear it Purple Day acts as a beacon of hope and encourages communities to come together to support and to celebrate our Rainbow young people. Through our celebrations and acknowledgement of this important day, we remind them that they are worthy, appreciated, loved, and respected as their authentic selves.
This year’s theme “Start the Conversation, Keep it Going”, encourages us all to talk about the issues impacting LGBTQI+ youth, focus on inclusivity, diversity and understanding, and celebrate the amazing achievements of our young people.
To join us in celebrating this day, remember to wear your purple clothing on the 27th of August, take a selfie, upload it to your socials and use these hashtags: #wipallambi, #AllambiCare and #Wearitpurple.

Who doesn’t love a good Artwork competition?
This Wear it Purple Day, Allambi Care’s Sexuality and Gender Inclusivity and Diversity Committee are also running an art competition for all of our wonderful and inspirational young people and their household members.
The brief is simple: create a piece of art with the colour purple or rainbow as the centre piece. You could incorporate identity flags or the Wear it Purple theme…… there is no limit to how creative you can be!
Supporting adults, please help the young people you care for develop their masterpieces, then send a photo of the artwork to the following email so that we can review the submissions on the August 27th 2021: IDC@allambicare.org.au
