This year NAIDOC celebrates 50 years strong with the theme The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy.
A common theme from speakers was the need to focus on young people. Letting them know that the stick is being passed down and the responsibility of continuing their legacy is being placed on them. Reminding young people that languages will be lost if they are not spoken and passed down. Traditions and music will be lost if they aren't learned and passed down. The young people are the future.
Allambi staff from all areas were out in our communities, coming together at local events across our regions - sharing stories, showing support, and celebrating the strength and spirit that connects us all. Newcastle NAIDOC marched from Civic Park to the main event on the Foreshore. This year’s event was one of the largest turnouts in recent memory, with vibrant community engagement, a wide array of service stalls, and strong cultural representation. East Lake Macquarie celebrated with an event at Speers Point Park and West Lake Macquarie celebrated with an event on Toronto Foreshore. Staff from the Northern Rivers office joined our friends from Ngunya Jarjum on beautiful Bundjalung country in Lismore, along with other local Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal services to celebrate the 50 years of NAIDOC.
Allambi Care’s continued presence and active participation in NAIDOC celebrations reflect our commitment to building meaningful connections and respect within Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Events like this allow us to listen, share, and grow together, reinforcing our ongoing dedication to culturally safe and inclusive practices.
