Our school holiday program was initially developed through the Family Preservation Program, which identified a significant need among the families it supports. Many young people had limited access to positive social experiences during school holidays, prompting the creation of a program designed to foster connection, engagement, and a sense of belonging.
The holiday program provides young people with opportunities to participate in enriching activities, many of which may otherwise be out of reach. Over time, the program has evolved and expanded in response to the changing needs of the clients we support.
Led by dedicated staff, the program has delivered a range of school holiday experiences, including day activities, school holiday camps, and cultural camps. Participation is often guided by the target cohort, such as specific age groups or client needs, the targeted clients is dependent upon the lead program delivering the holiday program.
Each holiday period, our Outreach team typically runs targeted programs for children and young people involved within the multiple programs within the department. The holiday programs not only offer meaningful engagement but also create opportunities for participants to step into leadership roles and contribute to program delivery, further supporting their personal development and confidence.
