Xav Straker has been cared for by Allambi since 2015 in ITC and Foster Care.
This year, he started a full time placement with his nan, Roma. This transition has been taking place over years, and has been very much a team effort across all departments. Xav’s support over the years, and the successful transition, has involved pretty much every part of Allambi Care- ITC/FC/FCRT/Clinical/
The cultural team played a huge role in reconnecting Xav and Roma through their Family Finding.
Roma is a proud Aboriginal woman and artist. She has faced her own challenges over the years, as part of the stolen generation. She is authorised as a Foster Carer with us, but she teaches us more than we could ever teach her.
Roma’s house is choc full of her artworks.
Stan, Roma and Xavier’s Case Worker, told Roma that he wants to buy one of her artworks.
Together they decided that Roma, with Xav’s help, will paint their journey together. We don’t think it gets any better than that.
