A program called 'Power to Kids' has been developed by MacKillop Family Services for staff working in the Out of Home Care field. Power to Kids is a program that up-skills carers, building their knowledge and confidence to have ‘brave conversations’ about sexual safety and providing them with strategies to intervene early when they see indicators of abuse.
This training is an excellent opportunity for staff to further their knowledge and develop skills in the area of sexual safety, however, it is not a requirement of Allambi Care’s employment.
The training is a 1-day live webinar where training participants will cover three prevention strategies and model brave conversations. Those who choose to undertake the training will also be required to complete a one-hour, introductory self-paced e-learn module, as well as a one hour, self-paced cultural e-learn module to build cultural capabilities.
MacKillop Family Services are offering the opportunity for all Australian Residential Care staff to access Power to Kids for free until November 2023.
If you are interested in registering for the Power to Kids training please reach out to Emma.Crowther@allambicare.org.au
