IMG_2324Our Education Manager Parker Jackson was invited to be a key presenter at the Department of Education's Out-of-Home Care Conference to provide an NGO perspective to the Department of Education Directors, Principals, and teaching staff across the Port Stephens network.

Parker's presentation covered the significant work that Allambi Care does to care for young people, individuals, and the community, allowing participants to learn about our broad services.

Our Allambi Learning Centre was well-known to the audience; however, he used the opportunity to inform our mainstream educators about the factors contributing to its success. This was well received, and participants were interested in our model, delivery and unique trauma-sensitive response when delivering quality education to our vulnerable young people.

Parker emphasised the importance of building relationships with our local schools to work collaboratively to advocate for our young people's needs and wants and for students to have agency over decision making.

The final goal of his presentation was to challenge the participant's perception of behaviour by asking the room to reframe the way they think, speak, feel, and respond to challenging behaviour that is a result from trauma and adversity.
