Our incredible team - Mel, Phill, Jeff, Timeka, and Natalia, work to ensure every student gets the personalised support they need.

Roles within the Learning Centre


Education Support Officer (ESO) –
Our Tutoring Program is in its seventh year of operation. Mel provides individualised learning experiences that enhance social and academic outcomes for young people in foster care. Responsibilities include building strong connections with students, delivering tutoring sessions in schools, placements, or the Learning Centre, collaborating with school staff to address learning gaps, and conducting diagnostic testing in literacy, numeracy, and social-emotional regulation to inform lesson content.

Teacher – Phill and Jeff play a vital role in building positive relationships with young people and supporting their educational and personal growth. Collaborating with key stakeholders, they design and deliver tailored learning experiences aligned with each student’s Individual Education Plan (IEP) and unique needs. Key responsibilities include fostering strong relationships, understanding trauma-based behaviours, using IEPs and diagnostic results to develop Individual Learning Programs (ILPs), and delivering individualised or small-group sessions at the Learning Centre, in the community, or at placements.

Education Consultant (EC) – The EC role, introduced in 2022, supports Allambi Care in meeting the current and future educational needs of children and young people. Working with internal and external stakeholders, Natalia advocates for improved educational outcomes by guiding management teams on enrolments, transitions, and alternative placements. She also builds connections with young people to support their engagement in education and oversees the delivery, reporting and promotion of our Relationships and Sexuality Program.

Education Manager (EM) – Timeka supervises the day-to-day operations of the Learning Centre, alongside providing leadership, consultancy, and advocacy. The role involves strategic planning, research, and capacity building to meet evolving educational needs. Key responsibilities include coordinating educational and vocational pathways for school-aged individuals, advising internal staff on policies and procedures, and collaborating with external agencies to enhance student outcomes. The EM oversees innovative, therapeutic education and experiential programs for individuals with complex trauma backgrounds and regularly reviews practices to ensure alignment with strategic vision and best practices.
