I remember my initial induction at Allambi Care being on the 24th of May 2007 with Peter Walsh. I felt from the get go, that this company seemed to fit me and I really hoped at the time, that I fit it. Fourteen years later and many trials and tribulations, I am proud to say that it appears that I did actually fit Allambi Care!

I have worked across many departments in various positions, and have seen what impacts children for the better when working therapeutically and from a trauma informed lens. For the past seven years, I have worked in the Allambi Care Outreach department, with families and teams that support families. It is here I feel most at home, where my strengths can be fully utilised, and where I feel like I make the most positive impacts for children.

What I have noticed during my time in outreach, is that children and families can become strong for many different reasons, and being connected to each other is certainly a key aspect, as well as children being connected to culture.

My past experience, being mentored by many great leaders and being trained in Family Finding, has been key for me as a practitioner. I have witnessed first hand the positive impacts of children who are connected to family, children whom haven’t been motivated or well enough to engage in typical aspects of their lives, for example education or health, have slowly been able to. Seeing children who have minimal relational permeance (free and forever), smile again when they start feeling connected again, is something I can’t ever forget. It is those long pieces of work and outcomes that can be achieved, in conjunction with the brilliantly skilled peers I work with, that keeps me enthusiastic and how I maintain motivation to give my all each day.
