Great local stories that just keep getting better! Two years ago we brought you the story of "Hope in a Suitcase", an incredible idea by Rachael Clancy. Rachael’s vision was to make sure that all kids in Foster Care had a suitcase that was theirs, with their own belongings. This vision, originally assisted by Awesome Lake Mac, has spread throughout the country and we are incredibly proud of Rachael and her drive to remove the embarrassment and hurt of moving between carers with only a plastic bag.

Rachael's vision warmed the hearts of Allambi, that is, to have a suitcase for all kids in the Hunter, living in Foster Care. ‘Hope in a Suitcase' removes the shame, fear and insecurities of moving home by replacing it with a suitcase of hope. This suitcase includes a blanket, pyjamas, underwear, essential toiletries and, importantly, something to cuddle. Every child, every day, no matter what, deserves to feel loved, safe, and hopeful. If you want to get behind this local champion's initiative, you can donate by contacting Rachael on 0413 829 638, emailing c3059732@uon.edu.au or via Facebook @bringing.hope.in.a.suitcase. You're awesome, Rachael!
