Our education team attended the Doing Schools Differently National Conference for flexible and inclusive education in Kaurna Country, Adelaide in June.
The jam-packed two-day event, which was organised by the Australian Association for Flexible and Inclusive Education (AAFIE), motivated our education team to keep up the vital work we do supporting our young people as they pursue their educational goals at the Learning Centre and, shortly, North Academy.
Our team participated in interactive seminars throughout the event, brainstorming and reflecting on their own practices as well as ways in which we constantly enhance the way we provide education to inspire our students to pursue achievement and personal growth.
Highlights included listening to a panel of young people from the Special Assistance School for Youth (SASSY) and Youth Inc., whose voices and bravery of their life and educational experiences were invaluable. The Commissioner for Children and Young People in South Australia, Helen Connelly, also provided us with insightful information about children's perspectives and what they want us adults to know.
