What a year! 2021 with the Allambi Education Department has been equally challenging, rewarding, and inspiring.

As the school year ends, we wanted to share some of the highlights from the year, what challenged us most and what are we looking forward to in 2022.image001 (1)This year, a massive highlight for us was our new staff members, as well as one of our Learning Centre students graduating Year 12.

Brenton Gibson started as a Teacher in the Learning Centre. He goes above and beyond to ensure his students feel safe, supported, and connected. Our students love him – he is such a positive role model that some kids have started copying his dress style, haircut, and food choices.

Gemma Dempsey started in the Education Support Officer role. Gem has blown us away with her dedication to her role and her students, and improving the sexual health education program at Allambi.

April Mulligan has started in a new role as the Education Consultant. She will provide educational advice, support, and advocacy for school students. Her role will directly support our case-management teams across the ITC, Lifemaps and Foster Care departments. April has been a teacher for the past 15 years and has a wealth of experience in government schools.

The Covid-19 pandemic posed some significant challenges for us again this year.

Our teaching staff were required to move our operations online when the lockdown was enforced this year. Our outstanding teachers and education staff shifted their focus to online platforms such as Zoom and Seesaw. They were set with the monstrous task of engaging our most vulnerable over a computer screen. Despite the challenges, our team came through this stronger than ever.image002 (2)What we are looking forward to in 2022!

2022 will be an inspiring year for the Education Department. It’s been a year-long process, but our team will submit their first application to the New South Wales Standards Authority to apply for the registration and accreditation to become a Special Assistance School!

We will also be launching the new schools' name, brand, and a re-brand of the Learning Without Walls Education Model.

Stay tuned!
