Allambi Care, with its unwavering commitment to enhancing the lives of individuals and families across Australia, recognises the pivotal role of employee training in achieving its mission.
Our NNSW team have made a commitment to upskilling staff to co-train alongside the Hunter L&D Team, with the goal of becoming self-sustainable and experts in delivering and applying Allambi Care's mission and training to those in the NNSW region.
Under the guidance of Director Lindsay Fish, the NNSW team is poised to achieve greater self-sufficiency through comprehensive in-house training initiatives. Lindsay emphasises the importance of conducting scheduled onboarding training sessions locally, without the logistical and resource complexities sending trainers on a seven-hour drive to NNSW from the organisation's main hub in Newcastle. This approach reflects Allambi Care's commitment to empowering its regional teams and fostering autonomy in meeting the diverse needs of the communities they serve.
Acknowledging the unique challenges inherent in Allambi Care's line of work, Lindsay underscores the importance of empathy, resilience, and a deep understanding of each individual's circumstances.
“With a small but dedicated team in Alstonville, resembling a startup environment, there exists an opportunity to embed training into the fabric of the organisation.
“This approach ensures that staff members are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to provide compassionate care and support effectively,” Lindsay said.
The TCI Train-the-Trainer learning opportunity in June marked a significant milestone for the NNSW team, with Ryan Hartin and Milly-May Martin enjoying the opportunity to tour Allambi Care Hunter’s head office for the week. They also achieved certification as associate trainers for the world-recognised Therapeutic Crisis Intervention training. Ryan and Milly-May, along with the Support of the NNSW team, will take the knowledge, skills, and framework to train their new support workers.
This initiative not only enhances the team's expertise, but also strengthens their capacity to deliver tailored training programs to the unique needs of the region.
For L&D Manager Ben Jones, the current push to upskill the NNSW team represents a crucial step towards achieving greater independence, skills, and opportunity for those in the Northern Region.
“By gradually transferring training responsibilities to the local team, I envision a future where the NNSW branch can conduct induction training in its entirety, with ongoing support from the Newcastle training team as needed. This will provide amazing opportunities and confidence from new starters in the skillsets of supervisors.
“This transition not only streamlines operations but also fosters a sense of ownership and accountability,” Ben said.
As the NNSW team embraces its role as a hub of learning and support, it stands poised to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those it serves, embodying the spirit of Allambi Care's mission.
