Tiny homes tackling big challenges

Homelessness effects hundreds of people in our region, with young people and those over the age of 55 most at risk*. Around 1 in 3 young people leaving out-of-home care experience homelessness at some stage within their first year after leaving care.**

In response to this local challenge, Allambi Care have proudly partnered with Lake Macquarie City Council on a tiny homes initiative. This solution will provide supported housing and ongoing living support for young people experiencing homelessness or are at risk of homelessness.

Allambi Care has always led with innovative solutions for the young people we serve and this tiny homes initiative is another demonstration of our needs-based approach.

“The use of a tiny home is a practical and cost-effective way to address housing affordability and tackle homelessness, providing safe, dignified and immediate shelter for those in need,”

In collaboration with the Council project team, under-utilised building sites were identified across the region, with the first build set to commence in Belmont.

“This collaboration reflects our shared commitment to creating inclusive communities where everyone has a place to call home”, said Simon Walsh, Allambi Care CEO.
