What's happening in NDIS and ITC?

Written by Allambi | Mar 15, 2023 5:22:07 AM

The weekend of March 3rd, there was a very important fundraiser hosted at Raymond Terrace Lakeside fields. Some of you may be familiar with Big D’s 11’s charity tournaments, which raise awareness and funds for a variety of health diagnoses including supporting young children, teens, and adults with cancer. This was all about promoting and encouraging people to donate blood and save a life. There were a range of raffles, activities, footy, and funds going to many deserving families.

For more information about Big D's Foundation, click here: Big D's Foundation | Raymond Terrace NSW | Facebook

Regardless of whether you made it out or not, it's a great time to consider donating blood.

Celebrations

It's birthday season in ITC!

Earlier this month we celebrated Mr Jason Kacarovski. Jason was very excited to enjoy dinner with his dad, brother, and girlfriend and begrudgingly agreed to a birthday cake and takeaway with his housemate, Iszack, and team members. Jason has recently reconnected with his dad and enjoyed his first few days staying with his dad over Christmas. This birthday celebration was very special for all involved. You can see how the second photo is of a proud family celebrating the special times with many more ahead!!

Tae also celebrated his 18th birthday at Honeysuckle Hotel. Tae invited 5 of his closest family members and extended Allambi friends and family.

Happy Birthday to the dancing queen herself, Holly. She turned 23, where she went out for dinner with her family, then celebrated her birthday with her housemates back at the placement. Holly’s amazing Workers Jodie and Candice created her birthday cake.

Happy Birthday Samantha - we hope it was full of all your favourite things

Happy wedding week to our gorgeous bride, Chloe DiPietro. We wish you all the love and happiness in the world. Enjoy the wedding and take in every minute.

Joshua Sandeman celebrated his birthday, with lots of celebrations held at the office by his team. Josh even found the time to make home made vanilla slice (which I can attest could have won an award). Josh’s team created a birthday booklet to remind Josh just how much they appreciate him.

Recipes

A welcomed addition to our Friday email is of some of our crews delicious recipes. This one hit close to the heart, with a dedication to Mr Lovett (Skye’s beautiful, loving, clever, and hardworking dad). Skye has recently purchased a Gozney and some of you may have been lucky enough to sample a bite or two in the kitchen. If you haven’t, I would get your order in soon.

With Skye’s incredible cooking ability, she has created “Lovo’s Pizza’s” Lovingly named after her dad.

Lovett has shared with us a recipe from Gozney that she uses for the very best base:

For the dough:

  • 620ml water
  • 1000g 00 pizza flour
  • 30g salt
  • 7g instant dry yeast

Step 1:

Pour all of your water into the large mixing bowl and add all of the yeast, stirring to dissolve. Add in half the quantity of flour (500g) to the bowl and mix with your hand for 30 seconds to combine.

Step 2:

Add the remaining half of the flour to the bowl and mix for another 30 seconds to combine and then add the salt and mix for a further 30 seconds.

Step 3:

Empty out the dough mass to your counter and knead with your hands for 10 minutes, and then cover the dough with a tea towel and rest on your kitchen/work surface for 10 minutes.

Step 4:

Shape the dough mass into a smooth ball by dragging across the counter surface to form tension on the outside of the dough. Cover and leave the dough to rest for a further 45 minutes.

Step 5:

Using scales, portion the dough into 250g portions using a dough cutter if you have one or if not use your hands or a knife. Form the dough into balls and place into lightly oiled containers or a tray and cover with a lid, leaving them to proof for 8 hours at room temperature 18°C.

Step 6:

Preheat your Gozney Roccbox or Dome to 450°C. Open out a dough ball using your favourite method, top lightly and transfer to a Gozney placement peel. Ensure that you have lightly dusted the peel with flour first to avoid the dough from sticking.

Step 7:

Gently re-adjust the pizza if necessary to stretch to the edges of the peel. Give the pizza a quick shuffle test on the peel, it should freely move and not be stuck, and then transfer to your Gozney pizza oven.

Step 8:

Allow the pizza to bake for 20-30 seconds before giving it a turn with a Gozney turning peel. Turn every 20-30 seconds for 90 seconds total or until the pizza is baked just how you like it. Remove the pizza from the oven onto a board, slice and enjoy!

Our beloved Jack

This week Tamara spent some time with our beloved Jack. Jack is looking for his FurEver home, please read below for a bit more on Jack:

“If Jack could write his story it would be one that would break your heart to read. I’m not going to sugar coat this post because this boy needs someone to speak for him. Jack has been neglected, starved and then left for dead. Abandoned in a house in terrible conditions. Jack is old which means he has had a lifetime of this treatment and probably rarely has felt any loving touch, had basic needs met or experienced a sense of safety or belonging. What has happened to him is so below any standard that any living thing should experience that it brings me to tears. If Jack was young it would bring some comfort to know that he could go on and enjoy all the things he has always deserved but sadly this is not the case. When I go in he just lays sadly on the ground in his kennel letting out the occasional cry or whimper. Jack is the sweetest old man and I would not blame him if he had deep mistrust for every person he met, however instead he is loving and kind and reveals to us all why dogs are such a treasure. If I could appeal to a person that could offer this boy softness and comfort for his remaining years. If someone could hear his cry and respond to him with love as for so long his cries have gone unheard”.

If you're interested in meeting Jack please contact the facility on 0499 900 272 or email us at ccacfpetadoptions@gmail.com

Introducing – Jenny and Peach!! (Both females, both cute)

Lauren Davis is currently on the Allambi Care Animal Rescue mission.

“Everyone probably saw the unravelling of the attempts to bring the first Allambi Zoo to life this week in the On Call notes, which has left me with two rabbits that I need to find a home for after a successful rescue mission. They are actually very cute, and we would 100% keep them if my rescue Border Collie didn’t think they were a very fun new toy.”

Please let us know if you are anyone would like to provide these two with a loving home.

Zachary catches a "Soapy"

Zachary is one of our newest YP who has come into ITC after a rough start in ICM. Since adjusting into his new environment and team, Zac has never felt more settled. Zac (and the team’s) highlight was earlier this week when Zac threw a prawn on the end of a rod, and with perfect precision, caught a “Soapy” commonly known as a baby Mulloway. For those avid fishermen out there, you would know this is something that usually requires the perfect conditions, bait, and timing. I’ve been told it’s a fish that people spend years trying to catch. Much like catching this little fish, we know there is an ocean full of opportunity for Zac.

The Feather boys enjoy a day at the Newcastle Show

The Feather boys, Cameron, Andy and Anthony, enjoyed a day out at the Newcastle Show last week with their support workers. During the day, the boys soaked up the show/community atmosphere, explored the various stalls and events, and Andy even braved one of the more intense rides. It was a fun day and great experience for all involved. Thank you Luke Saunders for sharing.

Wall of Recognition in Cohort 12 & 13

If you get a chance you should pop your head into Cohort 12 &13, they have created a wall of recognition for the amazing people they support. Sure to bring a smile to everyones face, particularly the client in the centre of the second photo.
