As Australia’s premiere event in all things behaviour analytics, the Association for Behaviour Analysis Australia Conference offers a unique opportunity to showcase the science of behaviour analysis in terms of its wide application and relevance in Australia and worldwide. The conference hears from a diverse group of researchers, professionals, and academics currently working in the field, both here and internationally and is the perfect chance to keep up-to-date with current research and connect with colleagues who share an interest in behaviour analysis. It provides an accessible platform for national behaviour analytic leaders and those new to the field to share their perspectives, discoveries, and vision for the field of behaviour analysis from basic science, translational, and clinical angles.

The theme for this year was ‘Behaviour Analysis in Australia: Diverse & Relevant‘. A celebration of the various ways that Behaviour Analysis is a part of the Australian story and the potential for the field to have a broader reaching, positive impact across the country in the future.

Two of our Behaviour Specialists from TracksHealth presented at the conference. Cody Webb presented “In the Fire”: Transition Challenges for Young Adults Leaving Out-of-Home Care and Tyler Luttrell presented “The Road to Family”: Building Tolerance for Long-Distance Transport.

Their insights were appreciated by all members of the conference.

The teams members who attended the conference give us a brief insight below of their time spent there.

Cody Webb:

I would like to share about the reaction that Tyler got from the crowd, namely Pat McGreevy, a Legend in the space of providing care for people with severe disability, who got up and told Tyler that his presentation was amazing and demonstrated the best of what behaviour analysis can do for people who live with disabilities.

Tyler’s presentation demonstrated that following through with a gradual programme that focuses on building small skills over time with a person with severe deficits in adapting to change and new environments, we are to able to increase their ability tolerate big changes that can lead to connecting them with family.

Pat even came up to speak to Tyler after the presentation, and I saw many people in the crowd shedding a tear at how beautiful the outcomes for Tyler’s client were. I would have cried too if I wasn't so tough.

Charlotte Buchanan:

Cody did an amazing job too and had the audience not been so big, Pat would have stood up there too. It was an amazing, inspiring weekend and I learnt lots. Especially what an awesome team of specialists we have at TracksHealth who I one day hope to be a good as

Tarah Lacy:

Such an inspiring weekend; my brain is full, my heart is happy, and as Charlotte said I’ve never been more certain about how lucky we are to have such an incredible team at TracksHealth.
