Homelessness affects hundreds of people across our region, and young people leaving out-of-home care are especially at risk - around one in three will experience homelessness within their first year of leaving care.

That’s why the Allambi Care Homebase Housing Project is such an important step forward.

The project provides 12–24 months of transitional housing for young people aged 15-24. But it’s about more than just a place to stay - it’s about helping young people build independence and confidence for the future. Through support with tenancy skills, education, and employment pathways, they’re better equipped to move into the private rental market and create stable, lasting lives.

We’re excited to see the project taking shape. Our Redhead site is leading the way as the pilot, with six tiny homes nearing completion. Two more sites are also in early stages, thanks to the support of Lake Macquarie City Council.

This Tiny Homes initiative is a great example of the innovation Allambi Care is known for. It’s also a chance for us to share a really positive story with the community - raising awareness, building understanding, and showing what’s possible when we work together.

A big thank you to everyone involved in bringing this project to life, with a special shout out to Lisa Smith and Fiona Wade for their commitment to the success of this special project.
