The Partnerships and Engagement Team recently attended a morning tea top celebrate Child Protection Week and the 10 year anniversary of local group Hearts and Hands.
Hearts and Hands community development is dedicated to uplifting disadvantaged children and communities by promoting self-sustainability. Astrid Hocking and her amazing team have spent years raising awareness and running programs that spread the message that it is NOT ok to hurt a child. Allambi staff were present last week to hear Astrid and members of local and state government talk at Child Protection Awareness Day in Rathmines. We heard about their beginnings and the things they have achieved over the last ten years.
Hearts and Hands goal is to “Foster positive change by providing assistance that helps individuals and communities achieve independence and safety." They do this by providing information on abuse and violence, with a focus on raising awareness about child protection. Being committed to promoting the safety of children through various activities and initiatives and providing a web-based information service designed to assist those living with mobility challenges, regardless of disability identification.
