Team Allambi took on the Westpac charity ride from Newcastle harbour to Lovedale in November. 58km of backbreaking, leg-cramping hell as they toiled along the roads with over 450m of climbing. Ian McCracken, in the Support Vehicle, reckons it was the easiest trip he’s ever done.
The team had four flat tyres on one bike, two riders got lost, and the crew passed one competitor in the gutter with a broken collarbone and ribs. They rode through fog, rain, sun and headwinds, with the last rider pulling a wheelie over the line 3 hours after the start (and that was not Simon!). Well done crew! Back again next year!
