Bailey is a 15 year old boy who has resided in our HYAP refuge for almost 3 months. He had not seen his father since he was 5 years old, believing that he’s father was possibly deceased.
Through working with the family our HYAP Case Worker was able to ascertain that Bailey’s father was in fact alive and was able to get his contact number. The Acting SHS/ HYAP CM and HYAP FSW contacted Bailey’s father, Mark who resides in Sydney. Mark was emotional when contacted by the staff and had desperately wanted to be apart of Bailey’s life. Through contacting Mark, Bailey discovered that he had half siblings that he never knew existed. The team coordinated bringing Bailey, his father and half siblings together to meet. The family have travelled up to the refuge to meet with Bailey. It was a emotional reunion for everyone involved (even the staff).
From here conversations have already arisen with Bailey possibly moving to Sydney to reside with his father, step mother and siblings. This so such a wonderful development for Bailey who up until now had no restoration options.
