The teenage years can come with some pretty big emotions and new challenges for everyone in the family. Kayla Purdy will present parts of the Tuning into Teens program which is designed to help caregivers and parents feel more confident in supporting their teen. You’ll learn skills to help you better understand your teen, communicate more effectively, and navigate the emotional ups and downs.
Community Hall - Windale Hub
When children are in out-of-home care, maintaining relationships with children’s family members can be complex and challenging but it’s important not to give up and disconnect.

The Carer Insight Hub ensures that the voices of carers are heard, valued, and reflected in decisions that affect Foster Carers, children, young people, and families connected to Allambi Care. It provides a structured and inclusive platform for Carers to:
Share lived experiences and insights
Inform and influence service design, delivery, and policy
Advocate for carer needs and priorities
Strengthen collaboration between carers and Allambi Care.

We provide a space for carers to catch up with each other and enjoy a delicious morning tea from the café. There may be some activities that you can participate in or, you can just sit and relax. Come along and spend time with like-minded people.

Carers for kids training calendar
Carers for Kids has many training opportunities available, and all training is free for authorised foster and kinship carers, guardians and adoptive parents from out-of-home care.

Indoor School Holiday activities at your local library
If you have kids who love indoor fun, head to a library. Our local libraries in Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and Hunter offer affordable, creative and educational sessions for kids of all ages. Bookings are usually essential. We have included links to their websites for you to follow if you are interested!
Newcastle Libraries
There’s lots of fun school holiday activities at Newcastle Libraries including activities relating to upcoming kids’ theatre shows Where is the Green Sheep? and Room on the Broom, NAIDOC Week activities, The Tiny Forest author event and STEM Punks science program.
