Ongoing training update

Once again, Dr Ian McCracken delivered an engaging and informative session focused on the common mental health challenges faced by children from trauma backgrounds. The training explored practical ways to support young people, from accessing formal services to providing effective care within the home.

What made the session particularly valuable was the opportunity for carers and staff to come together, ask questions, and share experiences. There was rich discussion around the complexities of diagnosis, the impact of not having a diagnosis, and the role of medication in treatment. This open exchange not only deepened everyone’s understanding but also fostered a strong sense of connection and community among those supporting young people through difficult circumstances.

Carer training like this doesn’t just build skills—it builds relationships, shared insight, and a powerful network of support.

If you were unable to attend the training presented by Dr Ian McCracken, you can find it at our LMS Course Listings

Training Calendar - September

September 24th 11am to 12pm  |  ONLINE: Catch Up for a Cuppa with Carers

This session will be an open platform guided by a carer support team member, who will be there to answer your questions and provide resources to support you.

All sessions will need to be registered for. Go to Training opportunities for carers - Carers for Kids NSW if you would like to participate in any of these sessions.

Foster Care Week - September 14 to 20

The theme for Foster Care week is ‘Time to Care’ and with that in mind, we’d like to invite you to come along and enjoy some time at a Carers picnic. Allambi is part of two picnics this year- one on the Central Coast on September 13th and one in Newcastle on October 2nd. See details below if you would like to attend either or both for a free, fun day of entertainment for yourself and the kids!
