Foster Care update - September

Written by Allambi | Oct 5, 2026, 11:31:29 PM

Central Coast Carer catch up was a hit!

The sun was shining for our first carer morning tea on the Central Coast. A group of carers from the area gathered with staff for a morning in the park. Unfortunately it was a bit chilly because of the wind but the good conversation, coffee from the local cafe and yummy food made up for it. Carers were happy to meet 'local carers' and not have to travel far to attend. Staff met people who had never been to an Allambi event before because of the distance. All this was summed up by one of our carers who said, "Thanks so much for organising the morning tea for the Central Coast, Cam and I absolutely loved meeting some local foster carers and the local Wyong team, we can’t wait for any future events down this way!"

We look forward to holding more events on the Central Coast - watch this space!

NSW OOHC Carer Survey

Firstly, thank you to everyone who recently completed the annual Allambi Care Carer Survey. Your feedback is incredibly valuable and plays an important role in helping us improve and shape the services we provide.

We want to acknowledge that this email does relate to a second survey that we understand is being requested within a relatively short period of time. We appreciate that you are probably experiencing a degree of survey fatigue, and we apologise that this has come so soon after the Allambi survey.

However, the Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) is now conducting their annual NSW OOHC carer survey, and this is an important opportunity for you to share your experiences, thoughts and ideas directly with them.

Why your voice matters
  • Your feedback helps shape the policies and services that support you and the children and young people in your care.
  • The survey provides DCJ with valuable insight into what is working well and where improvements may be needed.
  • By sharing your experiences, you contribute to strengthening the out-of-home care system for all carers, children and young people.
You can complete the survey by clicking the link below:

Thank you for your ongoing commitment, advocacy, and the incredible difference you make in the lives of children and young people every day. We genuinely appreciate your time, your dedication and your willingness to share your feedback.

Upcoming dates

Thank you for the incredible care you provide. We deeply value the connections within our foster care community and recognise how important it is to come together to support one another. We hope you’re able to join us at some of the events and training sessions planned throughout the year.

As always, you will receive an email with all the necessary details prior to each training date. If you have any questions in the meantime, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your Caseworker or Case Manager. We also have a new RSVP email address for confirming your attendance. This is our preferred method; however, you are welcome to RSVP directly to your Caseworker if that’s easier for you.
