DCJ Psychological and Specialist Services have a range of FREE online training for Carers. See below for training on Healing from Trauma, You’ve Got This! (for kids with PHSB) and Endings and Beginnings.

FEB 1 – 10am to 1pm  | Online |  Understanding Diagnosis

FEB 5 – 9.30am to 10.30am | Building Carer Connections  |   Mingara Recreation Club - Tumbi Umbi

This in-person session will be an open platform guided by Kylie Anderson, who will be there to answer your questions and provide resources to support you on your carer journey.

FEB 5 – 10.30am to 2.30pm | Resources Toolkit Workshop | Mingara Recreation Club - Tumbi Umbi

This workshop will introduce you to some practical resources that can assist your child/young person in their journey towards a calmer future. You will have an opportunity to create some resources to take home, as well as being able to share ideas with others and give and gain support in a safe and nurturing space.

 

FEB 6 – 9.30pm to 10.30am | Building Carer Connections | Central Coast

This in-person session will be a guided open platform by a MFF staff member will be there to answer your questions and provide resources to support you on your carer journey.

 

FEB 6 – 10.30am to 2.30pm | Exploring the Impact of Foster Care on Carers and their Families |  Central Coast

 

Exploring the Impact of Fostering on Carers and Their Families focuses on helping carers remember why they chose to care in the first place and how to sustain that commitment. It will equip you with tools to navigate the challenges that come with fostering, providing a platform for open discussion and shared experiences. By stepping back and remembering your initial motivations, this training can assist in supporting you to continue to provide loving therapeutic care, which is the pathway to healing.

FEB 8 – 6.30pm to 9.30pm | OnlineCarers Code of Conduct- It’s not just a piece of paper.

The Code of Conduct is designed to promote good relationships between carers, the child, the child's family and the agency. It promotes the highest standards of conduct by authorised carers, the standards of behaviour that apply to carers and the support and assistance that carers can expect to receive from their designated agency.

FEB 13 – 10am to 2pm  |  Online  |  Cultural Connections- The Carers Role

This workshop will be facilitated by AbSec who will equip you with the skills and knowledge to support the implementation of Cultural Care Plans and Cultural Support Plans for the Aboriginal children in your care.

 

FEB 14 – 10am to 11am  | Online | Catch up for a cuppa with Carer Support Team

Strictly limited to 20 participants

FEB 20 – 10am to 12pm   |  Online | Effective Advocacy

This session will be an open platform guided by the Carer Support Team, who will be there to answer your questions and provide resources to support you.

FEB 22 – 10am to 1pm   |   Online  |  The Impact of Pornography on Children and Youth in OoHC

This two hour workshop focuses on the impacts of SEM- Sexually Explicit Material on children and young people, particularly to assist those who work with youth in the Out of Home Care setting.

FEB 29 – 10am to 11am | Online | Ask a Cultural Expert!

Join into this session where we can talk through the issues we are experiencing with our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander kids in a safe, supportive environment.
