Our Social Work Team recently held a reunion event for all the young mothers and their, now mostly, toddlers who attended the Allambi Care Secure Connections Perinatal program to date. It was super exciting to catch up with our mums and celebrate the “Moments of Time” they spend with us in this program. We chatted, played, ate some yummy treats and reminisced over the times we spent together. It was heartwarming to see just how well some of our young parents were doing and how much their children have grown since we have last seen them. The young mums immediately gravitated towards each other and reached out to one another in support. We are so proud of how far they have come and even more proud of their willingness to reach out to those who are still in the process of restoration of their babies.
Such an honour for each member of our team to be part of such a lovely program; rewriting the outcomes for our amazing young parents! With the consent of our young parents we are about to embark in partnership with UNE on research on the outcomes of Secure Connections in the hope of getting this service funded to support more young parents in the future.
