On 13 February 2026, the Allambi Care Outreach Team rolled up their sleeves and headed into the community as one united force, travelling to the Lifeblood Newcastle Donor Centre in Broadmeadow to donate blood and plasma.
Representatives from across multiple Outreach departments came together for this joint initiative, demonstrating that caring for the community extends far beyond our daily roles. With Newcastle requiring more than 2,300 blood and plasma donations every month to meet local patient demand, donations are essential to maintain a stable blood supply for hospitals, support complex medical procedures, assist patients with chronic and acute conditions, and ensure emergency reserves are available when they are needed most.
Every donation made through Australian Red Cross Lifeblood directly supports people in our region, including cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy, individuals facing major surgery, and those recovering from serious accidents. Plasma donations also contribute to the production of life-saving therapies through organisations such as CSL Behring, helping people living with immune deficiencies, bleeding disorders and other complex conditions.
And of course, there’s a well-earned treat at the end! After donating, team members enjoyed some lovely food, refreshments and even a milkshake as a thank you for giving the gift of life.
