The Charlestown staff NAIDOC event was held on the 28th July. Some brave young people led the event in front of Elders, staff and community members. Uncle Alex Nean, Michael Forshaw and some of the young people from the Didge Program provided the background sounds to the smoking ceremony. Lekiesha lead the gathering with a mindfulness reading and Barry shared a poem. Jordy Roberts then performed an incredible dance. Staff finished up with a special tucker for lunch.
A big thanks to the Cultural team for bringing this special event together – enabling staff connection, education, reflection and celebration.
