Learning and Development Team 2023 Overview

Over the past year, the Learning and Development team has undertaken various challenges and triumphs, showcasing a dedication to enhancing skills, knowledge, and attitudes among its staff.

One notable triumph has been the enhancement of the 5-Day Onboarding Training.

The team revamped Day One of induction for our new support workers, introducing new content and engaging activities to ensure staff were well-equipped for their roles. The online orientation unit further streamlined the induction process, leading to improved staff competence and confidence levels.

The introduction of the Allambi Support Hub (ASH) has been another milestone, providing an internal resource accessible to all staff.

ASH serves as a library offering 'how-to' guides and videos, addressing practical elements not covered during onboarding. This resource has become invaluable, allowing staff to access information at any time, fostering a continuous learning environment.

Recognising the importance of frontline connections, the Learning and Development team initiated monthly house visits to programs across ITC, NDIS, and SIL. These visits aim to provide support, gather feedback, and ensure ongoing relevance in training programs, thereby enhancing staff support and operational insights.

A significant external training initiative is the adoption of Howard Bath's '3 Pillars of Transforming Care' program through Allambi Care's training arm, Tact.

Staff members have undergone certification as instructors, reflecting a commitment to staying at the forefront of trauma training.

Tact's growth doesn't stop there – the addition of external consultant Alexandria Gravenall and the launch of a new website in September 2023 demonstrates a commitment to expanding resources and meeting growing demands.

Prioritising staff well-being, Allambi Care facilitated an accredited 'Mental Health First Aid' training for 22 staff members in August 2023. This initiative aligns with the organisation's commitment to creating a supportive environment for its workforce.

The commitment to excellence extends to the realm of education, with the overhaul of the Diploma of Community Services. The Learning and Development team has diligently worked to meet new standards, creating new assessment and training materials to transition to the updated diploma curriculum in January 2024.

Since January 2023, 127 staff members have successfully completed the Diploma of Community Services, showcasing an impressive retention rate in comparison to industry standards. The team's focus on continuous improvement is evident in the Probationary Learning Overhaul scheduled for May 2024, utilising a new digital program to enhance engagement and the overall learning experience.

The ripple effect of this transformation is evident in the emergence of a springboard effect, with staff members pursuing further educational pursuits, including enrolling in university degree programs in 2024.

Allambi Care's Learning and Development program has truly ignited a transformative journey, breaking down barriers, fostering relationships, and equipping staff with qualifications they once deemed unattainable. A very successful year.
