What is your name and job title?

My name's Parker Jackson and I'm the Education Manager at Allambi Care.

How did you stay sane during isolation?

My mates and I really jumped back on the Fortnite bandwagon. I think we're pretty good in that we finish in the top 10 all the time. We had a couple first wins.

I'm also living in an apartment and I can't have pets here and we don't have any outdoor area, so my housemate and I decided to get some Sea Monkeys.

Now they're probably 3mm long, I have no idea how they grew, but we've got live Sea Monkeys in our little tank now.

What was the most challenging part about working from home?

The honeymoon period wore off pretty quickly. I missed the social side of Allambi, the social interactions like going to the café in the morning, grabbing a coffee, catching up with your team in that really relaxing environment.

I really can't wait to get back and have one of Anthea's coffees.

How did you adjust to working from home?

I adjusted to working from home pretty early on. I had to self-isolate from the office before everyone else.

I came back from overseas just before the COVID restrictions really kicked in. I've got a desk set up at home. I had to bring my monitor in and set up a little office here in my apartment. That really helped with sort of being productive and getting on task.

What has the experience taught you about the Allambi Care team?

I guess this whole experience has really highlighted how proud I am of the Education team. The teachers are all directly affected by COVID and the government restrictions about the kids coming in. We obviously had to shut the Learning Centre down.

Regardless of what challenges we sort of threw at our teachers, they just picked it up. They developed a new way of working and it's working really, really well.
